First Public Demo Dropped

Hey! After leaving this project for about a year to finish university, and some last minuet bug fixes, Fallen World is finally at a point I'm happy to put it out to the world :)
The biggest recent change made has been replacing cows with rabbits, so much cuter! So many more issues! Haha! I'm still very new to this hobby so reworking the Cow follow code to do the opposite took me about a day, I think the rabbits are so much cooler though and less of a nightmare later down the line, might be cool to add birds or something that use the same scripts so the player has more life around them. Worried that might clash with the whole "dead world" vibe though.
Fallen World actually started as a short text based java game almost two years ago, so seeing it in this state is really cool for me. I learned to develop 2D games through this project so working with some of my old code is kind of a pain sometimes haha. I was super nervous to get back into the swing of development after taking a break but the idea of it sitting gathering dust forever was just to sad.
Now that it's out here I'm super looking forward to get to work on some of the more fun gameplay mechanics like missions, I have three more NPCs planned, the gas station area and an idea for an NPC mission through I think I want to implement two of those before I update the game officially. I am want to redesign the map especially since the meadow area isn't really useful anymore since removing cows.
This is my current map, I think the base area is to big I'd much rather the fences work different as well. Overhauling the tent area as well would be cool, maybe making it a kind of raised building where you interact with the ladder and end up in another building. It would be cool to have mementos from the game in there.
I think the new map should be more of a circle than the weird sloping shape it is now, and more textures (so much fun to make floor textures (sarcasm)) so the player can get around easier. I also have to work on how I want the city area laid out, I have an idea for a little mini map I think I'll be able to do without any help. Getting a lot more confident with my work the further I get with this!
Which reminds me I also have to update the inventory system, currently all items are split into two categories; food or supplies. I think having maybe even multiple inventory screens so you can have special or unique items and then things like, wood, rocks, cans. I disabled NPCs starving to death for the demo (because it got on my nerves while testing haha) but I think the next update will have to have an expanded time frame.
Overall, I have a lot of things I want to add as quick as I can haha. Which means I have to create a lot of assets.. Which should be fun! I kind of hope at least a few people play the current demo but it's not the end of the world if they don't, I already forced my friends to play test hahaha. I might push some videos to advertise out on tiktok or something, I also might not lol. If you did play the demo and you liked it lmk :)
Hopefully I have some cool progress to update you with soon
